Best freight forwarders from China to the USA: what to compare
How to judge a China to USA freight forwarder: what belongs in the quote, who carries the duty, and what the main ones publish. Written by one of them.

Neofulfill arranges freight on this lane, so we are one of the options being compared. This guide is therefore built from what each company publishes about itself and from criteria you can apply to companies not listed here.
Freight forwarder comparisons usually rank on size, years in business and how many countries a company serves. None of those predict what your shipment will cost or whether it will arrive when you need it. What predicts that is what is inside the quote, and almost nobody compares that because it takes reading.
The quote is the product
Two forwarders quoting the same lane can differ by a large margin and both be honest, because they are quoting different scopes. These are the lines to check, every time:
| Line | Usually included? | What happens if it is not |
|---|---|---|
| Origin handling and docs | Usually | Small, but it appears later |
| Freight rate | Always | — |
| Fuel and security surcharges | Sometimes | Added per kg, moves monthly |
| Customs clearance at destination | Often not | A broker fee you did not budget |
| Duty and taxes | Depends on incoterms | An invoice after the goods land |
| Destination delivery | Often not | The quote ended at the port |
| Demurrage and storage | Never | Charged per day if you are slow to collect |
A quote that stops at the destination airport or port is not a quote to your door. That is not a trick — it is a standard scope — but comparing it against a door-to-door number is comparing two different things, and the cheaper-looking one usually wins on a spreadsheet it should have lost.
Who carries the duty
DDP means delivered duty paid: the shipper carries duty, clearance and final delivery, and you receive the goods with nothing left to settle. DAP leaves that bill with you. For consumer parcels DDP usually prevents more refusals than it costs; for bulk freight into your own facility it is less obvious, because you may clear it more cheaply yourself and may want the entry in your own name.
The wrong answer is not choosing. How DDP works goes through the trade properly.
What the main ones publish about themselves
Checked on 27 September 2026, from each company's own website. An empty cell means we could not find it published, not that the company does not do it. This is a record of what each one states, not an assessment of any of them.
| Modes published | Origins / coverage | Transit published | Also does | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DDPCHAIN | Air, sea FCL/LCL, rail, DDP, express, trucking, customs | 3+ China offices; Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Yiwu, Ningbo, Chengdu, Tianjin; 180+ countries, 70+ DDP destinations | Not published | Freight only |
| HyperSKU | Not published as freight modes | 10+ global warehouses | 5–12 days global shipping | Sourcing and fulfilment |
| Neofulfill | Air, sea, express and standard parcel | Two warehouses in Shenzhen plus a partner network in the EU and US | 6–12 days standard, 3–5 express, China to US, as ranges from our own shipments | Sourcing, QC and fulfilment |
Forwarders that publish no transit figures are not being evasive. Air and sea transit genuinely depends on the port pair, the sailing schedule and how customs treats the commodity, and a published number would be invented. Parcel services are different, which is why ours are stated — as ranges, and never as a guarantee.
Big forwarder or small one?
The large global forwarders are built around large accounts, and their pricing, service levels and attention follow the volume. If you move containers regularly, that is what you want.
If you move a few pallets, or parcels, you are a rounding error to them and a real customer to someone whose business is that size. The practical difference shows up when something goes wrong: whether a person who knows your shipment answers, or whether you are in a queue.
The questions to ask before booking
- Which of the seven lines above are in this number? In writing.
- Who is the importer of record? If the answer is vague, stop.
- What is the chargeable weight you used? Volumetric weight often sets the bill, not the scale.
- What is the HS classification you are entering it under? A wrong one is expensive to correct.
- What happens if the entry is examined? You want a process and an idea of the cost.
- Who do I call at 9pm your time when it is held? A name, or a queue.
Air freight from China covers how chargeable weight sets an air bill, shipping from China to the USA covers what drives transit variance, and our freight service sets the modes out side by side including parcel.
